Roller changing assistance robotic arm – steel mill equipment

The roller changing power-assisting robotic arm is a new-designed power-assisting steel mill equipment. Since the roller ring replacement on site is a purely manual method, it cannot meet the requirements of efficient production, the labour intensity is high, and there are many unsafe factors in manual handling and overhead crane lifting. The movable or fixed power-assisting arm that assists in the manual handling of the roller ring can reduce the number of manual handling and overhead crane lifting of the roller ring and improve production efficiency.

 

Project scope of this steel mill equipment

The intelligent roller ring system uses a robotic arm to assist manual work in the disassembly and assembly of the roller ring and the cone sleeve in the hydraulic roller ring cone sleeve disassembly and assembly area. At the same time, the project system is safe and reliable, easy to operate, and runs smoothly; it is equipped with redundant safety protection measures.

System design standards

The availability of the system is the key to ensuring its smooth operation. The hardware and software levels use excellent domestic brands of hardware and mature technology. Through careful design, reasonable arrangement and implementation of a complete set of redundant solutions, the reliability and availability of the system are ensured. The overall requirements of the power-assisting arm are simple, fast and convenient to operate, and at the same time, it has good stability and low maintenance.

Overall layout

The system consists of a power arm including the main round tube, main arm, auxiliary arm, vertical arm, brake disc, end clamp, air control box, and other supporting equipment; the pneumatic operation buttons on the operation panel include control buttons such as rise, fall, material collection, material discharge, brake, and flip.

The project uses two sets of power arms to complete the auxiliary manual roller ring and cone sleeve disassembly and assembly operations of two hydraulic presses.

Workflow of the steel mill equipmemt

(1) Roller ring and cone sleeve disassembly and assembly

Manually operate the control panel and use the end clamp of the power arm to clamp the roller ring and its assembled cone sleeve from the material position of the push device, where the clamping position is the outer contour circular surface of the roller ring.

Place the clamped roller ring and its assembled cone sleeve in the metal sleeve on the worktable of the hydraulic press.

The hydraulic press moves down the main shaft and applies pressure, causing the roller ring and cone sleeve to separate.

Operate the power arm to clamp the roller ring and place it on the material position of the push device.

Manually place the cone sleeve on the nearby cone sleeve buffer rack for storage.

Restore the power arm to its initial state.

(2) Roller ring and taper sleeve installation

Manually operate the control panel and use the end clamp of the power arm to clamp the roller ring from the material position of the push device, where the clamping part is the outer contour circular surface of the roller ring;

Place the clamped roller ring on the worktable of the hydraulic press;

Manually take the corresponding gasket and place it at the bottom of the inner hole of the roller ring;

Manually take the corresponding taper sleeve and place it on the inner hole of the roller ring;

The hydraulic press moves the main shaft downward and pressurizes it, so that the roller ring and the taper sleeve are assembled;

Operate the power arm to clamp the roller ring and the taper sleeve assembled with it, and place the roller ring on the material position of the push device;

Put the power arm restored to its initial state;

(3) Technical functions

The system performs manual roller ring and cone sleeve disassembly and assembly operations in the hydraulic roller ring and cone sleeve disassembly and assembly area;

The booster arm has a pneumatic balance function;

The booster arm has a self-pressure-keeping function when the air is cut off, which is used to manually return the equipment to its initial state when a fault occurs;

The steel mill equipment contained in the booster arm does not include special equipment, such as special pressure vessels;

The booster arm must meet the requirements for assisting manual roller ring and cone sleeve disassembly and assembly operations;

The booster arm and an operator can complete the manual roller ring and cone sleeve disassembly and assembly operations, and the overall time meets the basic requirements;
